Our Favorite Reads!

Hey there! Alexa Jorgenson here - founder / host of Munchin' With Moguls!

I know that everyone doesn't like to read (I don't understand it but I know it's a thing). I have always loved reading and wish I had more time for it. One of my new years resolutions was to read a book a month the whole year and it has been SO great. I don't always get to read the paper version - you have to get creative. Audio books have CHANGED MY LIFE. Perfect for all you busy ladies out there who still want to get in a good read. I love learning and as many of you know, I dropped out of college. That being said, I had to find creative ways to learn! So reading has definitely been one of the ways I learn best. Here are some of my favorite reads that have taught me so much about business, empowerment, love - everything that has made me what I am today!

If You Feel Too Much by Jamie Tworkowski - I am not kidding when I say this book changed my life. It is basically a book full of essays telling storers of hope, pain, and love. All across the board but overall it shows you it's ok to realize life is tough and it is ok to reach out to someone for help. The way Jamie has with words is unreal.

The Life Changing Magic Of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo - I love read that makes me feel productive. Tells you all about organization techniques, the mindset behind it, etc. So interesting.

Rising Strong + Daring Greatly by Brené Brown - Let's be real - we all know Brené Brown is the queen. I am sure most of you have read these books but she talks about vulnerability like none else I know. Run do not walk to this read.

Love Does by Bob Goff - Anyone who believes in a higher power should read this book. Bob tells stories of his life and let me tell you - his life is SO exciting. He is the US diplomat for Uganda, builds schools all over the world, and loves Jesus and family more than anything.

#Girlboss by Sophia AmorusoGIRRRLLLLL power am I right?! First of all, Sophia is amazing. Basically grew her business from being homeless. Now has created the empire that is Nasty Gal + Girl Boss Media. Love hearing about her journey to starting a business + her podcast Girl Boss Radio is one of my favorites!

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert - Eat. Pray. Love is her most popular book but Hi please read this one because I love it SOO much more than her most popular book. Talking all about finding and embracing your creativity.

Essentialism by Greg McKeown - Another book that made me feel productive and like I was really learning with every single page. This book chats alll about the crap we don't need in life and I loved it.

The Lean Startup by Eric Ries - Ok this book isn't for everyone. I'll admit it can be a bit of a snoozer. BUT. It definitely taught me some things about business and starting a company that I wouldn't have ever learned about on my own. Good read if you like things that aren't the typical story.

The Magnolia Story + The Magnolia Journal by Chip Gaines, Joanna Gaines, and Mark Dagostino - We are ALLL obsessed with Chip & Jo right? RIGHT?! Seriously not only do they have killer style and taste but they are such lights and are incredible at doing business. I highly suggest obsessing over everything they do + listening to the audio book of The Magnolia Story. Chip and Jo do the audio and it's adorable.

Kisses From Katie by Beth Clark and Katie Davis - Such a story full of goodness. This tells a story of this inspiring babe who moves to Uganda after doing a mission trip in high school. This was honestly one of the first books I ever loved and re read multiple times.

The Goodnewspaper by Branden Harvey - I was inspired to start this podcast because of my favorite podcast Sounds Good with Branden Harvery. This guy kills it when it comes to sharing positivity. He started a newspaper you can subscribe to that only shares good news. How cool is that? Subscribe for the newspaper + the good newsletter that comes by email every week. So much good news!

The Gifts Of Imperfection by Brené Brown - Out of any book I have ever read, this changed my life the most. I know I've ranted an raved about all the books above + said LOVEEEE way too much. This book changed my life. I suffered from so much anxiety in my past. I was a perfectionist and it brought me so much anxiety. I read this book and it changed my thought process. It set me free. Literally wish I could hug this woman and tell her how much she changed me.

That is that! Some of our favorite reads. There were SOOO many more you guys shared and I wish I had time to read them all / write about each of them! If your read wasn't featured, please put it in the comments! We always need more recommendations.
